| I've been asked to make a birthday wishlist and since I always do that on my xanga, I thought, "lets not break tradition."
I'm a big sucker for tradition.
so here goes...
JESSICA'S FANTASTIC 19TH BIRTHDAY WISHLIST
1) Cameo Pendants
haha, I always ask for these knowing nobody will be able to find them.
2) SHOES! I've been really longing for some Mid-top Chuck Taylors in black or red. size 7, but I just recently found out I fit a 6 in converse.... 6.5 if possible. (I know, I'm not making this easy) I also need some comfy flats. Though I have to admit, I'm super picky, so comfort + cute is a must.
3) Baking supplies. I left all of my baking stuff in Houston... cupcake pans, baker's chocolate, a whisk, a cooling rack (!), etc....
4) clothes.... yay. This category is so large it requires sub categories. basic info: size S or M I especially like the colors red, royal blue, kelly green, and black. no pastels, no yellow, NO BURNT ORANGE. k thanks. I love bowties, metal studding, stripes, polka dots, plaid, and simple solids. I like whales too....
a) sweaters/hoodies
I resisted buying this the last time I went to forever 21, but i realized I really do want it. haha. size M please.
Green pull over sweater from AA. size S. red fleece sweater AA
b) tops I love cotton tops. I also like lazing around in various colored v-necks, so that's always a good idea.
c) bottoms geeeezzz I've been really wanting to buy straight up guys' pants. I suppose the term would be "boyfriend" pants relative to women's clothing. imagine low slung black or grey trousers. sigh so comfortable too.
I really need jeans. haha i don't really think anyone would buy me jeans, but this lists also helps remind me of what i want to buy!
d) skirts/dresses I like basic skirts that I can wear every day, nothing fancy and nothing too short. If you're even considering buying me a dress, you must know me well enough to know what i like. :)
e) miscellaneous tights (M/L please.) -opaque: royal blue, purple, and black -other: grey croquet/fishnet, black heart printed thigh high socks beanies. (not black) cute underwear, i guess haha.
I should stop here with the clothes....
5) Polaroid film, sigh.
6) Rotary Cutter

7) Body form (size small)

8) Laptop sleeve approximately 13X9 inch
9) Tattoo etched ID case

10) The Sartorialist Book

11) I know its sort of silly, but i really want these futile "bookworm reader" glasses.
Urban Outfitters
12) scrap clothing If you own anything or find anything that has interesting print but is too big (and you don't care for them), I would like to adopt them.
13) Giftcards! Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, American Apparel, Buffalo Exchange
14) a cute boy to sit on rooftops with.
I might add more, but that's the gist of it! And I say this every year, but I love thoughtful gifts!
Turning 19 is sort of bittersweet, but I can't wait to celebrate in Austin! yayy

| I'm not dead, though I could understand why some might have believed I was after reading my last post.
But, no, I'm most definitely not moping around my house in my underwear, facebooking, rewatching Arrested Development on Hulu (why is that show so good!?).
yeap, most definitely not.
I have a different blog which I post some personal thoughts to a select few friends, though lately I've been lacking a sense of substance to it all. Blame it on this summer heat, it's completely melted my brain away, allowing me to forget that I have tons of adult stuff to take care of.... loans, tuition, rent...gah, just kill me.
Not to mention I got my first speeding ticket today. not an ounce of sympathy for a teary-eyed 18 year old asian girl with a completely clean record. society sucks.
looks like its six hours of defensive driving for me. Julie made that look really fun a couple of weeks ago
"Do you know what I just learned how to do? Drive in the snow. Why the fuck would I need to know how to do that?"

I'm sad. | | |
| So this past week I was in Austin for my freshmen orientation. I have to admit, I had oodles... OODLES... of fun. I don't know why I CAPS that word, it was just the first word that came to mind. Anyways, while conversing with another kid in my wing, he basically explains to me how he "was the token Asian kid" in his all white high school. I reply with, "Wow, my school was like 50% hispanic, 40% black, 8% asian, 1% other, and 1% white." "1% white?!" this was interjected by multiple eavesdroppers. Then, everyone feels they have to mention that their school was 100% white and I felt truly sorry for them. I understand my district upholds a faulty image and my high school is ridiculously domineering due to gang violence and low test scores, but atleast we are diverse in ethnicity and culture! Geez, I just couldn't even imagine growing up around any single race. I might've never eaten latkes, or learned how to dance bachata, or known how to differentiate bloods from crips, or watch someone snort coke in front of my face! These are valued experiences, people.
Stupid question for the day:
"So how does it feel to like look into a sea of black people?" "Uh... pretty normal." "Oh." | | |
